Scotland’s future in the global market place will be put under the spotlight by a world leading authority tomorrow.
A senior adviser to the international organisation, tasked with helping governments tackle economic, social and governance challenges, will share his views on Scotland’s economic future in a rare discussion at the Parliament on Thursday (29 November).
Dr Pierre-Alain Schieb, who is a senior advisor to the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), will address an audience made up of academic and business leaders.
He is also in charge of the OECD Global Forum on Space Economics, which helps governments and space agencies, including NASA and others, to better analyse the economic opportunities and challenges of the space sector.
At the Thursday event, Dr Schieb will look at potential opportunities for the Scottish economy to grow in the global marketplace in an event run by Scotland's Futures Forum in conjunction with Stirling University.
Scotland Futures Forum Director Robert Rae said:
"Dr Schieb’s visit will be a rare opportunity to hear a considered and provocative view on the future development of the Scottish economy within the global context, from a key leader in the international futures field.”
Mr Schieb is manager of the OECD International Futures Programme and Head of OECD Futures Projects. The Futures Programme aims to provide the organisation with early warning of emerging issues and analysis of key long-term concerns to help governments develop economic strategy.
