Tickets for free guided tours of the Parliament were snapped up by people wanting to take part in the Parliament’s activities to celebrate St Andrew’s Day.
All of the day’s regular public tours were full with more than 300 people booking for the free tours held specifically to mark the day.
The Parliament’s shop offered visitors free samples of its range of Scottish foods as well as discounts on all Scottish food purchases. Many of those visiting made use of the day to look for Christmas presents among the shop’s range of Scottish gifts and unique, branded items.
Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson MSP said:
“St Andrew’s day is a day to celebrate Scotland , our culture, our history and our many achievements as a nation.
“I am delighted that many Scots saw the day as a great opportunity to visit and learn more about their parliament.”
