Why is the Public Audit Committee meeting in Inverness?
The Committee is meeting in Inverness to take evidence from NHS Highland on a recent Audit Scotland report entitled The 2013/14 audit of NHS Highland: Financial management (130KB pdf). The Committee took evidence from the Auditor General for Scotland on this report on 5 November 2014 (you can read what was said at the meeting in the Official Report) and agreed on 19 November to meet in Inverness to take further evidence on the issues raised.
What is the role of the Public Audit Committee?
The Committee holds to account the people entrusted with spending public money on public services. It does this by hearing from all the relevant people involved and thorough examination of the facts. The Committee does this on behalf of the people of Scotland, to ensure that the money they pay in taxes results in the best possible outcomes from the public sector.

Where and when is it meeting?
The Committee meeting will begin at 9.30am on Monday 2 February in the Highland Council Chamber – a map of the location is available. You can attend for all or part of the meeting.
How can I travel to the meeting?
Highland Council HQ is on Glenurquhart Road, approximately a 10 minute walk from Inverness city centre. The number 3 bus stops on Tomnahurich Street - approximately a 4 minute walk from Highland Council - and there is limited car parking space available nearby.
Where can I read the papers for the Committee’s meeting?
The papers for the meeting in Inverness will be available to read on the Committee’s webpage after 28 January. These papers will include details of those giving evidence, any written evidence submitted to the Committee and the agenda for the meeting.

(We also welcome calls using the Text Relay service.) Limited tickets may be available on the day on a first-come, first-served basis, and tickets booked in advance will be distributed on the day by our security officers. Unfortunately, there will not be a video stream of the meeting online but an Official Report of the meeting will be prepared and made available in due course.
