Diversity and Inclusion

The Scottish Parliament is an inclusive employer.

We want to attract and develop a diverse group of people to work at the Scottish Parliament.

We believe that a diversity of perspectives and knowledge can lead to better informed decision making and high performance. Diversity and inclusion is part of everything we do.

Our current Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (721kb PDF) identifies our aims:

  • To have a diverse workforce that reflects modern Scottish society and
  • To have an inclusive working environment where all staff are valued and respected.

Live a healthy life

Promoting health and well-being of our staff

We provide:

Our Diversity Staff Networks

Encouraging staff to promote diversity and inclusion

Our Diversity Staff Networks will help us build a better picture of the needs and expectations of diverse communities who want to work, visit or engage with the Parliament.

Giving Back

Providing benefits that serve the diverse needs of our communities

Inclusive Talent and Learning Programmes

Our learning is based on sharing

We have a proactive, blended and flexible approach where staff can access learning in a variety of formats – anytime and anywhere – at the point of need.  We work in a coaching and mentoring environment, where we provide opportunities for you to support others through programmes such as the Career Ready scheme. Diversity and inclusion is fully integrated into the learning programmes.
