To mark the first day of the London 2012 Olympic Games on Friday 27 July, the Scottish Parliament will take part in Turner Prize-winning artist and musician Martin Creed’s commission for the London 2012 Festival.
The commission, entitled Work No. 1197, All the bells in a country rung as quickly and as loudly as possible for three minutes will involve the Scottish Parliament ringing the division bell, which normally calls MSPs into the chamber to vote, at 08:12 for three minutes.
Thousands of bells will be rung across the country by individuals and organisations on Friday 27 July at 08:12 as part of the celebration, which will be the London 2012 Festival’s biggest community celebration for the Games.
