The Scottish Parliament will hold a Parliament Day in Stirling on Friday 21 June.
During the day’s activities, the Presiding Officer and the Health and Sport Committee will undertake a series of meetings with local organisations and groups. The Committee will also hold a formal Committee meeting in Stirling Council’s chambers where they will take evidence on the impact of health inequalities in Stirling.
Announcing Parliament Day Stirling, Presiding Officer the Rt Hon Tricia Marwick MSP said:
“Parliament Day Stirling is an opportunity for the people of Stirling to get involved in the work of the Parliament on their doorstep, helping the Parliament be at the heart of a local community.
“Hawick and Stornoway have already hosted their own Parliament Days where I was inspired by the welcomes we received and the enthusiasm of the local people to make their views heard.
“I hope the people of Stirling take this opportunity to become involved in the work of their nation’s Parliament.”
Convener of the Health and Sport Committee Duncan McNeil MSP said:
“My Committee looks at issues that affect communities across Scotland – from teenage pregnancy to access to community sport. Hearing from local people about the issues that matter to them is important for every parliamentary committee.
“Everyone has an interest in our health service. I look forward to hearing the views of people from in and around Stirling as it is our job to represent them in the work of the Parliament.”
