Inquiry report published on European Union membership

The European and External Relations Committee’s inquiry to examine the Scottish Government’s proposals for an independent Scotland’s membership of the European Union as set out in “Scotland’s Future” and “Scotland in the European Union" report is published today.

The inquiry set out to examine the issues relating to an independent Scotland’s membership of the EU on the following themes:

  • Scotland in the EU
  • The road to membership and Scotland’s representation in the EU
  • Small states within the EU 

The report is published following more than five months of evidence-taking involving more than 30 witnesses giving nearly 16 hours of evidence.
