Productivity is a measure of how well an economy uses resources to produce output.  It influences international competitiveness and living standards, and improving productivity is one  of Scotland’s purpose targets within the National Performance Framework (NPF).  This briefing provides background information on the measurement of productivity in Scotland and considers recent performance.  This briefing also discusses the potential drivers of future productivity growth.
