The Scottish Parliament’s Local Government and Communities Committee has today, 6 February 2017, launched a call for written evidence as part of its post legislative scrutiny of the High Hedges (Scotland) Act 2013. The Act received Royal Assent on 2 May 2013 and we want to hear your thoughts on how it is working.
Organisations and individuals are invited to submit written evidence to the Committee setting out their views on whether the Act has achieved its objective and provided a solution to the problem of high hedges which interfere with the reasonable enjoyment of domestic property.
It would be helpful if written submissions could address the following questions:
- Has the definition of a high hedge as set out in the Act proved helpful? If not, please provide details.
- Do you have any experience of the appeals procedure as set out in the Act?
- Do you have any comments on the enforcement procedures under a high hedge notice?
- Do you have any comments on fees and costs?
- Overall, are there any aspects of this Act which has had a positive or negative impact on your life?
- Any other issues relating to the Act which you wish to bring to the attention of the Committee?
The closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday 20 March 2017.
