Round-table evidence session


At its meeting on 11 December the Committee held a round-table evidence session on the connection between school exclusions and offending. A number of witnesses provided written evidence in advance of the session.

Written submissions

At its meeting on 8 January 2013 the Committee reviewed the evidence received and agreed to: (a) write to the Education and Culture Committee highlighting the issues raised and (i) ask that these be considered during its Stage 1 consideration of the forthcoming Children and Young People Bill, and (ii) invite it to consider holding a joint committee debate on the issue; (b) write to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning highlighting concerns raised regarding the Scottish Government's exclusion policy; and (c) copy both letters to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice for information.
