The stated policy objective of the Bill is to:

prohibit smoking in private motor vehicles in the presence of children, subject to limited exceptions; and for connected purposes.


The Committee held its first oral evidence session on the Bill on 9 June 2015.

Took evidence on the Bill on 16 June 2015.

On 23 June 2015, the Committee heard evidence from the Member in charge of the Bill.

On 24 September 2015, the Committee published its Stage 1 Report on the Bill.

On 5 October 2015, the Committee received a response to the Stage 1 Report from the Member in charge of the Bill.


The Committee launched a call for written views on 29 April 2015. This closed on 27 May 2015.
