Remit:

The remit of the Committee is to consider and report on further and higher education, lifelong learning, schools, pre-school care, skills and other matters falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning and matters relating to culture and the arts falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs.

1. At its meeting of 26 January 2016 the Committee considered the following instruments—

  • The Police Act 1997 and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 Remedial (No. 2) Order 2015 (SSI 2015/423)

  • The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2016 [draft]

2. Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, moved—

  • S4M-15403— That the Education and Culture Committee recommends that the Police Act 1997 and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 Remedial (No. 2) Order 2015 (SSI 2015/423) be approved.

  • S4M-15306—That the Education and Culture Committee recommends that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2016 [draft] be approved.

3. The motions were agreed to.
