The Committee conducted post-legislative scrutiny of the Family Law (Scotland) Act, one of the most important pieces of legislation on family law in recent years. This involved oral evidence being taken. In view of the limited time available before dissolution, the Committee considered only the most important aspects of the Act, and sought views on where to focus its scrutiny via a targeted call for evidence.
The Committee took evidence on the operation of parts of the Act at its meetings on 23 February and 8 March 2016.
The Committee published a report to the Parliament on its post-legislative scrutiny of the Family Law (Scotland) Act 2006 on 17 March 2016.
