Remit
The Committee has agreed to take evidence on the four Scottish Statutory Instruments (listed below) which will allow regulation to be commenced for independent clinics being provided by (on behalf of) specific regulated healthcare professionals.
Those healthcare professionals are doctors, dentists, dental care professionals, nurses or midwives.
- The National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 (Independent Clinic) Amendment Order 2016
- The Healthcare Improvement Scotland (Fees) Regulations 2016 (SSI 2016/26)
- The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (Prescribed Purposes for Consideration of Suitability) Regulations 2016 (SSI 2016/27)
- The Public Services Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2016 (SSI 2016/22)
Timetable
The Committee took evidence on 11 February from stakeholders and on the 23 February from the Minister for Public Health.
The Committee published its report on the Regulation of Cosmetic Interventions in Scotland: Phase 1 - Independent Clinics on 1 March.
