Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2020-21

About the Inquiry

The Sub-Committee on Policing will consider elements of the Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2020-21 that relate to its remit.

Pre-budget scrutiny

All Scottish Parliament committees undertake pre-budget scrutiny of the draft budget which is subsequently published later in the calendar year. The purpose of pre-budget scrutiny is for the committees to produce, report and provide comment to the Scottish Government on the delivery, impact, and funding of existing policy priorities and any proposed changes, and how these should be funded. The aim is to influence the budget when priorities are being set. The Justice Sub-Committee on Policing is currently considering the capital expenditure needs of Police Scotland for the 2020/21 budget. This includes funding for the provision of police equipment, fleet and estate (like police stations, patrol cars, uniforms and equipment) to areas like providing modern ICT and police computer systems.
