Background
The Scottish Civil Justice Council and Criminal Legal Assistance Bill was introduced to the Scottish Parliament on 2 May 2012.
The purpose of this Scottish Government Bill is to (a) establish a Scottish Civil Justice Council to replace the Court of Session Rules Council and the Sheriff Court Rules Council and (b) make changes to financial eligibility in relation to criminal legal assistance to align the eligibility test with that of criminal legal aid.
