
What has the Scottish Parliament done?
Here are a few examples of what has been done in this area:
Legislation
This act required the establishment of the Scottish National Investment Bank and to make further provision in connection with that body.
This act abolished network area tourist boards, renamed the Scottish Tourist Board as VisitScotland and increased the number of Board members.
Other areas also include examples of economic development, for example sport and the arts and transport.
Committee inquiries
The committee recommended that Scottish Government broadband targets for 2020 should be more ambitious to ensure that rural areas in Scotland are not left further behind, and that public investment should only be made where there is clearly no potential for the market to deliver.
Petitions
The petition led to the Scottish Government agreeing to fund a pilot accreditation scheme.
The petition led to the introduction of a Scottish Government Living Wage Accreditation scheme. Since its introduction, the scheme has accredited more than 1,000 living wage employers in Scotland.
