Project History

Canongate BuildingThe search for a new site for the new Parliament building began after the referendum in September 1997 in which the people of Scotland voted by almost three to one for the creation of the first Scottish Parliament in almost 300 years.

On the following pages is a summary of the project history outlining the key events in the development of the Holyrood Building.
