Abair Beagan (Speak a Little) is a new publication which contains some simple Gaelic phrases, terms of address and useful parliamentary terminology
The leaflet has been designed to support non-speakers who are interested in using a few words of Gaelic when welcoming people to the Parliament or when speaking at meetings; for instance it contains guidance on pronouncing Gaelic names like Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (the official name of the council for the Western Isles) or Na h-Eileanan an Iar (the official name for the Western Isles constituencies).

The Speak a Little leaflet (607KB pdf) contains phonetics for all the words and phrases as well as links to sound files so you can click on the word or phrase you wish to hear and it will open.

We have also produced Sgrìobh Beagan [skreev bek-an] ‘Write a Little’ - which contains simple Gaelic phases that can be used in letters, cards and correspondence such as dates, greetings and sign-offs.
